The most recent example in Colorado has been E. coli in McDonald’s Quarter Pounders, which sent multiple people to the hospital and killed one.

However, it feels like this year we’ve been subjected to a ton of listeria recalls.

Of course, the Boar’s Head recall was a nationwide problem, with much of their products being infected with listeria.

Just this month, Walmart announced that it also had to recall chicken in Colorado due to yet another listeria outbreak.

As it would turn out, a grocery store with Colorado locations recently had to pull a popular product off the shelves for a similar reason.

It has been announced that Sprouts Farmers Market locations in Colorado and across the country are pulling a popular product from the shelves for listeria concerns.

It’s their popular Chicken Street Tacos kits that are getting pulled from the shelves, which Sprouts has done voluntarily. Fortunately, there has not been any reports of anyone getting ill.

Sprouts has plenty of ready-made meals for people to eat, and I’m personally a fan of them. However, this definitely is a bad look.

If you’ve bought a Chicken Street Taco kit from Sprouts recently, it’s best not to test it.

Back in the day, the most common place you would find listeria in food would be on cheeses.

However, it feels like every product now has had some sort of recall for it.

According to Eater, the reason likely is due to the fact that we now rely on processed foods that are refrigerated more than ever.

By allowing foods to sit for long periods of time, even when refrigerated, it gives the bacteria more time to grow, even if it was barely contaminated before.

Another major factor has been the deregulating of food inspections, allowing the process to go by faster without the same level of care before.

What Are the Symptoms of Listeria?

Listeria is a bacteria that almost acts like a parasite within people, and it can have some seriously horrible effects.

The most basic symptoms you can get are diarrhea, nausea, aches, fever, and chills. However, it can go on to give you horrific illnesses past that stage.

For one, if it gets to your spine and nervous system, it can give you meningitis. If it gets in your bloodstream, it can give you sepsis and cause major damage to your organs.

If you’ve eaten a contaminated product and are feeling any symptoms, you need to go see a doctor immediately.
