High-Speed Chase Ends in Crash Near Wyoming-Colorado Border
A Cheyenne man is behind bars after leading authorities on a high-speed pursuit late last (Tuesday) night.
Laramie County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Captain Linda Gesell says deputies were called to the 900 block of Dayshia Lane around 11:20 p.m. after neighbors reported a person either parked or passed out in a driveway.
"When the deputies got down there they contacted Chaz Ulrich and asked him for his driver's license," said Gesell. "While the deputy was up at the car, he (Ulrich) took off and headed south towards U.S. Highway 85 and then ultimately southbound in the northbound lane."
Deputies chased Ulrich at speeds that reached 100 mph, but stopped pursuing him once he crossed the Wyoming-Colorado border.
Weld County deputies found Ulrich's car crashed about a mile into Colorado and arrested him on a Wyoming warrant for parole violation.
"The deputies did see him throw some things out of the car," said Gesell. "They went back and tried to retrace everything (and found) a container that had approximately 29 grams of suspected methamphetamine and a misdemeanor amount of marijuana in it."
Gesell says the Wyoming portion of the pursuit has been sent to the Laramie County District Attorney's Office for potential charges.
