High Park Fire Update: June 12th, 9:30am
The High Park Fire has now consumed approximately 43,433 acres, and is still reported at 0% containment; though firefighters have been able to anchor the southwest corner of the fire, which is the first step in making a fire line. The evac shelter is still located at the Ranch at I-25 and Crossroads Blvd.
Investigators have determined that the fire was caused by lightning.
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment and the Regional Air Quality Council have issued another Action Day Alert for fine particulates through Tuesday.
The Larimer Humane Society still has room for cats, small mammals and farm animals displaced by the fire, but are at capacity for dogs. Advanced Animal Care of Colorado in Fort Collins is also full.
