Two Weld County residents were arrested following their involvement in a gang-motivated shooting that took place in Greeley last month.

Just before 8 p.m. on June 17, officers with the Greeley Police Department heard gunshots in the area of 18th Avenue and 9th Street. An officer who was nearby that location determined a shooting had occurred on the south side of the Sinclair gas station.

Upon investigation, the shooting was determined to be gang-related. According to an official police statement on Facebook, the shooter was quickly identified as Marcos Maldonado. Gang detectives revealed that Maldonado and the victim had been arguing about a previous gang-related case they were both involved in. Maldonado reportedly pulled out a handgun and shot two rounds at the victims from inside his vehicle.

Maldonado's wife, Kendra Maldonado, and their four children were also inside of his vehicle when the shooting took place.

Kendra Maldonado was arrested on June 28 for her involvement in this case. She was booked into the Weld County Jail on charges of Retaliation Against a Witness and Child Abuse.

On July 5, Greeley Officers arrested Marcos Maldonado in the 1800 block of 5th street  He was arrested for Retaliation Against a Witness or Victim, Criminal Attempt - Assault in the First Degree, Menacing, and Child Abuse. He was also booked into the Weld County Jail.
