The uncertainties of 2020 have meant food insecurity for many families in the Northern Colorado area, and whether someone in your family has lost a position or you're having a hard time affording daily amenities, like groceries, there is relief for you.

Because of this insecurity, March 1 marks the beginning of a new food tax rebate for low-income households in Greeley, and the program will run through June 30, according to a press release.

In 2019, 882 Greeley residents took advantage of food tax rebates, but the world was very different then. If you're interested in getting involved in the 2021 program, there are some stipulations you must be aware of.

For one, you must have been a Greeley resident for at least 10 months. Secondly, your annual income must be below a certain amount based on how many people reside in your home. For example, if you are in a family of four, you must make less than $42,150. The full list of financial requirements can be found right here.

According to the press release from the City of Greeley:

Qualified family members are legal dependents claimed on federal form 1040. Applicants must provide a Social Security number for each family member requested on their application.

The maximum rebate for residents is $65, which might not seem like much, but that could help with tasks like gas and groceries in the future.
