It's sad when you hear of a business closing, especially a bakery that local Coloradans have enjoyed for nearly 20 years, but new adventures await.

This one really does sound like a win-win, as not only is the owner moving on to something she's been wanting to do, but the space will still have a bakery. Who doesn't love the smell of fresh baked goods?

Fort Collins, Colorado, Bakery Closing on December 24, 2024

Christmas Eve will bring the end of a Great Harvest Bakery location that has been in operation since 2007, operating under what they call a "Freedom Franchise" agreement.

That agreement with Great Harvest let them use the Great Harvest recipes and processes, but then opened them up to meet the needs and wants of their Fort Collins community, as they were located at Drake and Lemay in the Scotch Pines shopping center.

New Adventures for Former Bakery Owner in Colorado

Julie Damschroder, the franchise owner in Fort Collins, is off to become a ranch-hand at her brother-in-law's ranch in Kansas. That will be a lot different than running a little bakery in Fort Collins, but there will still be some baking, for sure.

Great Harvest Bakery in Fort Collins Becoming a Different Bakery

There is a great bakery in Downtown Fort Collis on Olive, The Bread Chic They have been around since 2008, and have had that brick-and-mortar location for only a few years, but are already making the Drake and Lemay spot their second location.
