Grass Fire Burning Near Highway 287 South Of Loveland
Wind, my most hated of all weather phenomenon. It's certainly picking up this afternoon, but I'm sure firefighters hate wind much more than I do because they are trying to battle a grass fire south of Loveland off of Highway 287.According to the Loveland Reporter-Herald, fire crews were on the scene around 4:45 this afternoon.
The fire is burning in grass and shrubs east of U.S. 287 and south of Colorado 402 near Belmire Sprinkler and Landscaping.
Let's hope this fire is contained quickly.
Jessica Maher, a reporter for the Herald tweeted this info about the fire around 5PM:
- Fire is not close to nursery of shrubs right now, structures of the storage unit.
- Owner of Belmire Inc. said she noticed fire 45 minutes ago, it's burning on top of piles of old plant material from nursery.
It sounds like this one should get taken care of pretty quickly, but you can follow updates from the Loveland Reporter-Herald here.
This does make me worries about the upcoming summer. 2012 was one of the driest years we've had in a long time and we haven't seen squat for moisture so far this winter. So, unless we get a some heavy spring monsoons and a ton of spring snow in the high country, we cold be facing an even worse your for fires in 2013. Ugh.
