Don't worry, you don't have to boycott Fort Collins after all! The Fort Collins City Council has voted “No” to the public nudity ordinance that would let women go topless.

The city council decided to keep the city’s policy against women going topless, but decided to add an exception for breastfeeding mothers.

These are the two options that Fort Collins officials considered:

  • Option 1: Maintains the current policy that does not allow for women to be topless in public, but adds an exception for breastfeeding mothers.
  • Option 2: Allows for women to be topless in public.

Both update options continue to prohibit any nudity from the waist down by any person over the age of 10 and will provide exceptions for medical emergencies, performance venues, and changing areas.

 Survey Results

Fort Collins allowed residents to take an online survey earlier this month. Out of the 8,713 people responded, around 40 percent agreed with the change to allow women to be topless in public – while more than 60 percent did not.
