Boulder has reached the number one spot on the best cities for biking and Fort Collins takes third only behind Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Bike Score is the online survey that depicts cities that have the best scenarios for bikers and walkers getting around town without the use of cars. By use of maps the Canadian researchers' study can accurately determine the best "bikeable" cities based on hills, bike infrastructure and the number of bikers.

All along College Ave and the Old Town area were the best areas for bikers based on distance and accessibility to amenities and subdivision areas.

This news also comes in conjunction with the announcement that funding will be provided through 2014 for the Fort Collins Bike Library. Contributions from New Belgium Brewery, the City of Fort Collins and community donations have given the library at least another two years of operations.

The Fort Collins Bike Library provided bicycles to visitors, residents and students in the Fort Collins area free of charge for up to a week.
