We live in one of the best, if not THE best, parts of the entire country. People from across the United States are moving into Northern Colorado and visiting here on a daily basis, more than ever before. However, there are things that some of these people do that make us want to send them where they came from and ban them from the state.

Here are the top five things that people from the outside do that make Fort Collins residents get agitated on a regular basis:

With people moving in from out of state, their football allegiances don't always line up with ours. Whether they are a fan of the Packers, Chiefs, or Patriots...it's expected. However, when they start trash talking the one Denver Broncos quarterback who should have a shrine in every city, they've crossed a line that they will never get back over.

This will take you down the road of being deported from the great state of Colorado...immediately.

2.) YOU ONLY DRINK NATIONAL BRAND BEERS

This is where I tell someone...you live in the area known as the "Napa Valley of Beer". Which means that you not only get the great taste of the national beers but you also get to dabble in a Double IPA or any of the other hundreds of local brews available. So put down that can you beer snob and try something a little different!

3.) YOU THINK WE ALL SKI

This is the ultimate in "out of towner" thinking. They imagine that each of us in Fort Collins and the entire state spend our weekends strapping on ski boots and hitting the slopes any chance we get.

Reality check...

The closest ski areas are still about 90 minutes away and we just don't feel like getting caught up in the traffic that snarls up the mountain roads every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Again, most of us in Fort Collins would rather be sitting at New Belgium having a cold one while you make yourself cold.

4.) ASK US WHAT A ROCKY MOUNTAIN OYSTER TASTES LIKE

I actually got this question the other day. The conversation went like this. We'll just say my friend's name is "FRED".

Fred: You live in Colorado now. So tell me what Rocky Mountain Oysters taste like.

Me: Still haven't had one...and have no interest to do it.

Fred: Nice try. No, really. What do they taste like? There's no way you haven't had one yet. It's a Colorado staple

Me: (Just shook my head and went to the next subject)

Seriously. Just because we live in Fort Collins doesn't mean we have had a Rocky Mountain Oyster. If they were really THAT popular, there would be a food truck parked in Old Town selling them with a side of Franks Red Hot and a Fried Oreo. Please...stop associating the entire region with a bulls oyster.

5.) SAY THERE IS NOTHING TO DO AROUND HERE

This is the comment that I think agitates us Northern Colorado residents more than anything else when someone from out of state moves in. You do realize that during the Summer there is literally some sort of festival going on every weekend, right?

Or that the parks we have in the area (Spring Canyon and Fossil Ridge to name a few) are some of the best in the country and are free?

How about it's easy to get on a bike and take in the scenery for an hour or two?

There's a reason we are the least obese state in the country. So you can join in on the fun or stop complaining to the rest of us.
