After Closure Rumors, Denver’s Only Drive-In Theatre Opens This Friday
Looks like we got lucky and one of the oldest and last remaining drive-in theatres in Colorado confirmed that they're officially reopening for the 2024 season. The fun begins this Friday.
Popular Colorado Drive-In Theatre Not Closing In 2024 As Planned
If you've ever been to a drive-in theatre then you know about all of the underrated fun that can be had in the parking lot with the biggest silver screen you ever saw. Loading up the family or friends, or maybe it's a simple date night. Drive-in movies are always a good time each summer.
It's not as quiet as watching a movie inside a traditional movie theatre, but something about being outside under the stars, cranking up the sound on the radio in your car, and stuffing your face with popcorn, nachos, hotdogs, or whatever your preferred movie snack. Drive-in theatres just hit differently.
Breaking: Popular Elf Grill Closing For Good
In Northern Colorado, we're blessed to have the Holiday Twin Drive-In up in Fort Collins, but anywhere closer to Denver, all they have is the old 88 Drive-In Theatre in Commerce City. After selling the land that the 88 sits on last year, we're surprised to see that they're re-opening, but we're excited!
88-Drive-In Theatre Opening Weekend 2024
The sale and closure, for now apparently, have been postponed and the 88 Drive-In is set to kick off its 2024 season this Friday, May 10th with a fantastic line-up. This week's double feature will start with the new Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, followed by Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.
Tickets are only $10 per person (12 and under are still free) to see both films and will be exclusively available, first come first served, at their box office which opens at 7:30.
While we're not sure how long the 88 will be around, as we know they did sell the property to make way for a new business venture on the land, we'll take advantage of this extended goodbye as long as we can. Make those memories this summer, as it could be the last at the OG 88! See you at the Drive-In...
