The Minnesota Vikings have a lot of names that Broncos fans probably know, including Gary Kubiak and Rick Dennison; George Paton is now another name to know.

Denver 7 is reporting that several sources are saying that the Bronco's new GM is George Paton, who has spent the last 14 seasons with the Vikings as Assistant General Manager.

Paton will be taking over the GM position vacated by John Elway, who stepped away from the position in early January.  Paton will reportedly be signing a six-year contract, which (to me) does make it sound like the Broncos believe that they have found the person the team was looking for and in need of.

Paton. It rhymes with 'Peyton.' That, right there, sounds like a great start.

According to Denver 7, Paton applied for the GM position that John Lynch eventually landed at San Francisco. Lynch, another name from Denver Broncos history. The Bronco's former Head Coach, and backup QB to John Elway, Gary Kubiak is currently the Minnesota Vikings' Assistant Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator.

Another familiar name, Rick Dennison, the Vikings' Offensive Line Coach, was Denver's Defensive Coordinator from 2006-2008.

The Denver Broncos have now gone five seasons without having made an appearance in the playoffs. Contracts are contracts, but I wonder how many seasons Paton will get if the team and the loyal fans don't see the Broncos in the playoffs soon.
