When we started preparing for our little girl, I was blown away by how much money i could spend on a car seat. My first thought was, "We need to get two!" (One for mom's car and one for dad's.) But, after price checking we decided that we could make one work.(Car seats can be expensive!)

But today, once again, I came to work with an empty car seat in my car, and mom was stuck at home with the little one, unable to go to work. If only I had ponied up for two car seats...

Thankfully grandma was coming over to the house today and stopped by the studio to pick up the car seat and mom made it to work on time, but that hasn't always been the case. One of us has left with the car seat at least half-a-dozen time over the past year and most of the time it makes for a horrendously stressful day. The big problem is that by the time you realize you don't have a car seat, you're supposed to be leaving.

When you're home with a baby, and supposed to leave, drop the baby off and go to work, it's a pretty helpless feeling knowing that you cannot, safely or legally leave your home.

It was much easier when the little one was tiny. Picking up the car seat was not much different with her in or out of it and she would stay in there indefinitely with no complaint. As she got older and bigger, she liked being in the seat less and less, and it became much easier to pull her out and carry her, instead of pulling out her car seat with her in it.

Parents, trust me, it might cost and extra $100-$300, but the sanity a second car seat will save you is well worth it.

Added bonus: The first time your little one "explodes" all over the car seat as your headed out the door (and they will), you can just grab to other one and be on your way instead of trying to speed wash as freshly defecated car seat.

Feel free to learn from my mistakes.
