Football season is right around the corner, and although we may live in Ram country, we'll put rivalries aside for a second to congratulate CU, as they ranked in the top 10 for having one of the best college mascots ever.

Sports Illustrated recently published their list of the greatest mascots in college football history, and CU's Ralphie the Buffalo came in at #6.

Usually surrounded by her team of student-athlete handlers, the 1,200 pound mascot is a staple on the sidelines at CU football games. The handlers help to guide the massive mascot around the field during pregame and halftime festivities, where she is honored and treated with affection from staff, students and fans. Since 1966, there have been 5 different Ralphie's to romp through the Boulder campus.

Other colleges with mascots to crack Sports Illustrated's top 10 rankings were the University of Georgia's bulldog, the University of Oregon's duck, Mike the Tiger from LSU, and Bevo the longhorn bull from the University of Texas.
