CSU Football Stadium Already Getting New Turf

Get ready for increased traffic and sidewalk closures around “Fort Construction” during the month of April. CSU has decided to put new turf in the football stadium after just 2 years. It’s being replaced to adjust water drainage from the field because it didn’t meet requirements of percolation performance specifications. In other words, the field wasn’t draining water sufficiently and if CSU doesn’t fix the problem now, it could end up costing the University money in the long run.

The project is scheduled to be done by the middle of July. Since the football team doesn’t start practicing for the 2019 season until the beginning of August, this project will not interfere with their preparation for the season.

The good thing is, it’s not costing the Department of Athletics or the University any money because the work is covered under the original construction of the stadium. This is because school officials never signed off on the field’s installation and drainage systems because they didn’t know how much it would cost to replace the field.

Just like the original turf, the new turf will be made of the same synthetic PowerBlade Pro System. It’s important to use this specific turf because not only does it resemble blades of grass but it also performs like real grass. This turf is essential to the players because it can make a difference in the performance of the game.
