Former Colorado State Women's Basketball star Becky Hammon continues to rock the professional basketball world as she has become the first rookie head coach to ever lead her team to a championship.

The Las Vegas Aces defeated the Connecticut Sun over the weekend to capture the the franchise's first title and the historic mark for Coach Hammon as being the first rookie head coach to win a title.

Becky Hammon is worth every single penny that she receives too. Hammon, who attended CSU from 1995-1999 was a three time All American and voted Colorado Sportswoman of the Year during her career in Fort Collins in addition to that, she led the Rams to a 33-3 record and to the Sweet Sixteen in the NCAA Tournament.

She is the CSU's all time leader in points (2740), points per game (21.92), field goals made (918), free throws made (539), three-point field goals made (365) and assists and is in the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame.

Hammon played in the WNBA but had to retire after a serious knee injury but has her jersey retired by two different teams, the New York Liberty and the San Antonio Silver Stars.

After her playing career she went on to coach in the NBA for the San Antonio Spurs for several seasons and became the first female to ever coach in an NBA All Star Game. She is widely respected in the game of basketball by men and women alike and we're proud to call her one of our own.

Congratulations Coach Becky Hammon.
