To avoid introducing COVID-19 into our prison system, Denver and Boulder law enforcement are limiting low-level crime arrests.

Summons will be issued for low-level, non-violent drug and property crimes, according to Denver Post.

Summons are legal documents ordering a person to appear before a judge, where they could face charges but won’t be taken into custody.

The following Colorado jails have suspended visitation:

  • Boulder County jail
  • Adams County jail
  • El Paso County jail
  • All Colorado Department of Corrections prisons
  • The Aurora Contract Detention Facility that houses immigrant detainees for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement
