Colorado is perennially one of the fittest state in the country, but a new Gallup poll shows that we are the 5th most active. That's good news and all, but I want us to be number-one!

According to the new Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index, more adults living in Colorado say they excise than adults in 44 other states. The only states that came out above us are Vermont, Hawaii, Montana, and Alaska.

The poll looked at the percent of people who said they exercised three or more days per week for 30 minutes or more.

Here are the top five states and their percentages:

  • Vermont (65.3%)
  • Hawaii (62.2%)
  • Montana (60.1%)
  • Alaska (60.1%)
  • Colorado (59.8%)
As well as the bottom five states:
  • Rhode Island (48.2%)
  • New Jersey (47.7%)
  • Alabama (47.5%)
  • West Virginia (47.1%)
  • Delaware (46.5%)

Looks like it's time to get off your duffs Delaware.

Now, here's the bad news for Colorado. This survey indicates that over 40% of people that live here can't seem find the time to exercise for 30 minutes three times per week.

I think we can do better than that.

Right now I'm in the middle of another Dare to Lose Challenge with Miramont Lifestyle Fitness and the people on my teams are putting in triple, quadruple, or more than the paltry hour-and-a-half per week this poll is using as a guideline. They're doing it at seeing amazing  results. I'm pretty sure you can find a few minutes to get active too.

We all want to be healthy, we all want to feel better, and if you make the time in your life for some sort of physical activity, you'll be a lot happier. I promise.
