Western Colorado did it again. The region was No. 1 at being the coldest place in the contiguous United States Thursday (Dec. 10) morning.

I really get a kick out of this. It's fun being No. 1 in the nation. What are we the best at? Well, it seems Gunnison County, Colorado, had the lowest temperature in the continental United States for the morning of December 10, 2020.

Just how cold was it? According to the National Weather Service, Gunnison County was basking away at a toasty 1 degree this morning.

Oddly, a location which frequently has the lowest temperature in the lower 48 didn't perform so well. Over the last few days, Peter Sinks, Utah, has experienced low temps in the teens.

Okay, who had the warmest temperature yesterday. The National Weather Service reports that once again, the award for highest temperature in the contiguous 48 states goes to Kingsville, Texas, with a comfy 86 degrees.

What's in store for Gunnison County for the next few days? The National Weather Service predicts snow, and lots of it, through Monday, December 14, with low temperatures in the single digits.

Don't you love it when Colorado comes in first? While "coldest temperature" might not be our favorite category, it's still a win.
