Colorado Bill May Let Parents Buy Alcohol For Their Children

Sen. Greg Brophy has introduced a new bill that would let parents purchase booze for their kids in restaurants that allow alcohol consumption.

No, not all kids would be allowed to drink alcohol given their parents permission. The bill would only allow parents to purchase alcohol for their kids 18 and older at Colorado bars and restaurants.

The bill will be looked over starting this Wednesday in time for the new legislative session.

The republican lawmaker wanted to pursue this new bill after "he and his wife recently took their daughter to dinner to celebrate her 20th birthday, and she couldn't have a drink with them."

Brophy also wanted to make sure parents of returning servicemen could also purchase alcohol for them to consume.

The state of Wisconsin has a similar law that allows those 18-21 to be served alcohol with a parent, guardian or spouse that is over the age of 21.
