Can You Eat Neighborhood Apples? Sure, Let’s Make Pie [PICS]

Apple trees, peach trees, plum trees, pear trees and more can be found in many Fort Collins neighborhoods. A lot of this fruit just ends up on the ground for the ground feeders to enjoy. Is it wrong to pick and enjoy fruit from a neighbors tree? Even if you know it will all just go to waste on the sidewalk? I say go for it, especially if that fruit is easily accessible from the public domain known as the 'sidewalk'. So I found these beautiful pink kissed apples one block over from our house and they were reachable for 5'4" me. They taste phenomenal, super sweet and only a little tart.

I picked enough to make a pie. My husband makes pies, I don't. He used this simple recipe called Apple Pie by Grandma Ople and the pie turned out delicious.  Happy free and easy picking!! If you feel like you need permission there are lots of Craigslist ads for fruit picking, but you have to be quick to it, they go fast.
