There might not be anything more painful than an alarm clock beeping at 4AM after seven nights at an all-inclusive resort in Mexico. I'm sorry to be done with my vacation, but I am glad to be back.  Just what did I do south of the border?Nothing, absolutely nothing.  This was a vacation to unplug, relax, and unwind...and it delivered perfectly.  Although, "nothing" isn't really the correct word because I did sleep, read, swim, build sand sculptures, play volleyball, shoot archery, attend shows, walk, eat, and so-forth.  So there was plenty of stuff to do, just nothing I had to do.

We stayed at the Iberostar Tucan in Playa del Carmen.  I would highly recommend this resort to anyone planning a relaxing beach vacation that doesn't break the bank.  I've stayed in it once before five years ago, and it was still just as beautiful this time.  All you can eat, all you can drink, 3 pools, a wildlife-filled jungle you can walk through on your way to the beach...it was fantastic.  I'll stop because I sound like I'm doing a sales-pitch for them right now, but it was gorgeous.

Another plus for our journey was that I did not feel "un-safe" for even a second of our trip.  Media reports of the drug cartel violence have lots of Americans terrified of going anywhere near Mexico, but my stint in Cancun and Playa had no issues whatsoever. (I am by no means saying everywhere in Mexico is safe, but Playacar was very safe last week, thankfully.)

I am already missing my endless days on the beach, but there is work to be done and music to be played.

I put a gallery of a few pics from my trip below if you care to look.  Ole!
