A Greeley Police Officer is lucky to be alive after an officer-involved shooting overnight.

Overnight, the Greeley Police Department received a call for shots fired at 13th and 26th Ave in the city. Dispatch advised officers that the shots came from a white Chevy or GMC dually pickup.

Officers spotted the vehicle in Eaton on HWY 85. Greeley Police and the Weld Country Sheriff chased the suspect until he entered the City of Greeley. A short while later, the vehicle was seen near the intersection of 37th St and 47th Ave.

Officers perused the vehicle until the two suspects jumped out, firing at the police. One of the officers and one of the suspects were shot in the altercation. Both are in stable condition.

One of the suspects ran into a residence and the Greeley SWAT team surrounded the home. While trying to make contact with the suspect, a shot was fired inside the residence. After a search, the suspect was located and found deceased.

The 19th Judicial Critical Incident Response Team November 15, 2019 Officer Involved Shooting This Press Release is being distributed on behalf of the 19th judicial Critical Incident Response Team. At approximately 2125 hours, on November 14, 2019, officers with the Greeley Police Department responded to a call for service for shots fired at 13th St and 26th Ave in the City of Greeley. Officers were advised by dispatch that a white Chevrolet or GMC dually pickup had fired a shot at another vehicle. The white Chevrolet pickup was later observed near the City of Eaton on HWY 85 driving at a high rate of speed southbound. Deputies with the Weld County Sheriff’s Office and officers with the Greeley Police Department pursued the vehicle for a short time and discontinued when it entered the City of Greeley. The vehicle was spotted by a Greeley officer a short time later near the intersection of 37th St and 47th Ave. Officers pursued the vehicle to the area of 37th St and Marigold Ave when two suspects exited the vehicle firing at the officer. The two suspects fired several rounds at the officer. An officer was shot during the shoot out and one suspect was injured. The second suspect fled to his residence barricading inside. The Greeley officer and first suspect are in stable condition. Greeley and Weld County SWAT teams responded. While Greeley SWAT was surrounding the house attempting to make contact with the suspect, a round was fired inside the residence. Upon searching the residence, the suspect was located, deceased.
