Berthoud to Johnstown I-25 Project Will Close Two Roads Next Week
Remember when there was no construction on I-25? Nope, me neither. The congestion between Fort Collins and Denver is frustrating. There's obviously a need for more lanes on this main artery interstate, but man, the construction is a bummer.
The current project between Berthoud and Johnstown is called the I-25 North Express Lanes Project. The "Berthoud to Johnstown section will increase highway capacity by adding an Express Lane in each direction, rebuild interchanges, replace aging bridges, straighten highway curves to improve safety, make major utility and drainage improvements, and add carpool and transit facilities."
Those improvements will be awesome. The construction in the meantime will not. On Tuesday, February 21 and Tuesday, February 28 there is a detour to take note of. It will happen during the busy drive times, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Tuesday, Feb. 21, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Colorado Department of Transportation and the I-25 North Express Lanes Project will temporarily close Larimer County Road 16 under I-25 while crews place new bridge deck panels.
- Westbound LCR 16 traffic will take the eastern Frontage Road north to E. County Road 18, turn and take I-25 south to exit 254, turn right and continue west on LCR 16.
- Eastbound LCR 16 traffic will take the western Frontage Road south to Larimer County Road 14, turn and take the eastern Frontage Road north, turn right and continue east on LCR 16.
Also, on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Larimer County Road 14 under I-25 will be temporarily closed while crews pour concrete for a new bridge deck. Please follow posted detour signage in the area.
Westbound LCR 14 traffic will take the eastern Frontage Road north to E. County Road 16, turn and take the western Frontage Road south, turn right and continue westbound on LCR 14.
Eastbound LCR 14 traffic will take the western Frontage Road north to E. County Road 16, turn and take the eastern Frontage Road south, turn left and continue eastbound on LCR 14.
