Ashtray In Floor Starts A Fire

Human stupidity never ceases to amaze me. A house fire in Oregon that caused $30,000 in damages was caused by the tenants using a hole in the floor as an ashtray. Apparently, they thought that the hole would be better used to throw their cigarettes in rather than fix it.

How stupid do you have to be to see a hole in the floor and think that it would make a great place to throw cigarettes? Did they miss the day in science where they talked about wood being perfect fuel for a fire? If I lived in a house and it had a hole in the floor, I would fix it or have it fixed. Luckily no one was hurt and the moral here: Don't throw things with a flame or ember into a flammable hole.
