Some people say they have the “best proposal story ever!” I’d put mine at the top of that list!

Let me start with that I’ve loved the amazing woman who I’m lucky enough to call my wife, for as long as I can remember! I probably planned over the years a half a dozen or more ways to pop the question when that time came but the one that happened wasn’t even close to any of the original ideas!

It was the spring of 2013 when I was talking to some friends of mine about popping the question to the love of my life. We went over some of the crazy ideas I had over the years and for the most part, none of them felt right. The one idea that I did like was doing something at Cheyenne Frontier Days! We had a lot of friends on the committees and who volunteer there, plus that event was always one we’d do together and already had made plenty of great memories there! Why not add one more amazing one?

I got the ring and my plans were set. Only 1 close friend and some CFD Committee people who helped me set it up knew. I kept this pretty tight-lipped as I didn’t want her to have ANY idea about what was about to go down. July 23rd, 2013, was the day I was going to risk it all in front of thousands of people to try and get my “YES!” I remember before we went into the show, my old boss, Stu, was in the Buckin-A Saloon and I decided I was going to let him in on the secret. I showed him the ring and his face lit up like a Christmas tree!  He told me congrats then started to go find his wife, Cindy, to tell her. I had to stop him because if either of them started acting funny, she’d know! Thankfully, he obliged and didn’t spill the beans while we were still with them.

In the Pic above we were backstage with Thompson Square who was the opener for Luke Bryan that night. The reason I picked this show was that one of our songs over the years was Thompson Square’s “Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not” and in that song, he got down on one knee so that was my plan! To get down and pop the question right as he sang that lyric. It was showtime!  We were right in front of the stage in the CFD VIP area and about halfway through TS’ set, it was POURING rain! To the point where I was trying to figure out what Luke Bryan Sing I could use as a backup plan if TS’ set was cut short. Luckily, the show kept rolling, the song was played and I got down on one knee in the “mud” of Cheyenne Frontier Days in the rain, and guess what? She said yes! Keefer from TS was on stage right above us, saw it happen, and announced to about 24,000 people in the crowd that she said yes and they all went crazy! She had no idea by the way which was hard to do because my wife is a detective! It’s a moment we’ll never forget.

Side note: We got married on June 7th, 2014 at Thunder Mountain Amphitheater in Loveland. Do you know who played that same Amphitheatre the very night before? Thompson Square. How freaking cool is that?! Did you have a cool proposal? What happened! Shoot me a message on our free station app or call into the show!
