Headed to the movies this weekend?  Five big movies are opening, yes, five! You can see a rich playboy struggle with true love, follow orphaned African animals, watch a 16-year old rogue spy fight the C.I.A.,  feel good about the girl who can still do it all with one arm, and see that burnout comedies can date back to medieval times.  Read more for a quick synopsis of the movies, trailers, and showtime info.

Arthur” (PG-13)
Stars Russell Brand, Helen Mirren, Jennifer Garner, Greta Gerwig, Nick Nolte and Luis Guzman. A reboot of a 1981 movie where Russell Brand is charming, spoiled, rich, anti-socialite who must choose between an arranged marriage or an uncertain future with his true love. I predict some funny moments in this one, so long as Brand isn’t too over-the-top.

Born to be Wild 3D” (G)
Documentary starring Morgan Freeman.  Cameras follow orphaned orangutans and elephants and the extraordinary people who rescue and raise them. Everyone at once now, “Awwww…”

Hanna” (PG-13)

Stars Saoirse Ronan, Eric Bana, Cate Blanchett, Tom Hollander and Olivia Williams. A teenager is raised in isolation by her father to be the perfect assassin. Was it all part of a C.I.A. plot?  Looks like an intense action thriller.

Soul Surfer” (PG)
Stars Anna Sophia Robb, Dennis Quaid, Helen Hunt, Kevin Sorbo and Lorraine Nicholson. Based on the inspiring true story of teen surfer and shark attack survivor Bethany Hamilton, who lost her arm and returned to competitive surfing.

Your Highness” (R)
Stars Danny McBride, James Franco, Natalie Portman, Zooey Deschanel and Justin Theroux. A slacker fantasy quest to save the kingdom from evil.  Somehow they’ve created what looks like a medieval stoner-flick.  Think “Harold & Kumar” meets “Lord Of The Rings”.
