2011 MTV VMAs – Spotlight on the Video of the Year Nominees

Adele, Katy — it's up to you. Since 2007, the Video of the Year category at MTV's Video Music Awards has been swept by the female set, with Rihanna, Britney Spears, Beyonce and Lady Gaga taking the top honor over the past four years. But, who knows? The Beastie Boys could nab the moon man for their cameo-heavy retro video.

That’s right, Adele. Smash another plate. With a voice like that (and yes, she’s just sitting there) you can do just about whatever you’d like. We still get shivers every time we hear that fire starting in her heart … and let it be known, this is one bad lady we don't want to cross.

Bruno Mars – 'Grenade'

Oh, love. Bruno Mars gets the worst of it in this dark video. Well, bud, at least you got a VMA nom (and a darn good song) out of it.

Tyler, The Creator – 'Yonkers'

We said Bruno Mars was dark? OK, Tyler, we get it. Things are pretty dim for you too. Uh, and you don’t particularly care for Mr. Mars. Noted. At least the guy’s got a good shrink.
