I think I might have to find a way to take a quick little stay-cation from Fort Collins down to Cañon City, CO before the end of the month. I just found out that the Royal Gorge Scenic Railway will be making its last run...ever!

The railway has been in operation for 54 years, giving riders some of the best views of the Royal Gorge, but according to CBS Denver,

The owners sold the railway, along with a frontier town in 2010. They’ve been leasing the train for the past two years, but say a decrease in state tourism dollars took a toll on the business.

And on September 30th, 2012, the Royal Gorge Scenic Railway will take passengers for its very last ride.
