Happy St. Patrick's Day-Week!

Just about everywhere you go in the coming days you'll see things decked out in green,  cartoon leprechauns, soda bread, 4-leaf clovers, corned beef, Harp, Guinness, green beer and a whole lot of Irish-pride (even from those without a hint of Irish in them).

But who was St. Patrick, and why does his name show up every March 17th on our calendars?

St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, is one of Christianity's most widely known figures. But for all his celebrity, his life remains somewhat of a mystery. Many of the stories traditionally associated with St. Patrick, including the famous account of his banishing all the snakes from Ireland, are false, the products of hundreds of years of exaggerated storytelling. -History Channel
