Watch Emeli Sande’s ‘Next To Me’ Video & Learn How To Pronounce Her Name [LYRICS & VIDEO]
Emeli Sandé's new track 'Next To Me,' is really growing on me. I think this one could put her on the map here in the United States. But, I have heard a lot of people having a hard time pronouncing her name.
Read on, you can learn how to say it correctly, learn a little about her, and watch the 'Next To Me' video.
"Emeli" is pronounced very similarly to "Emily," that's not the part of her name I've heard butchered. With "Sandé," on the other hand, I've heard things that sound like: "Sun-Dee-A," "Sandy,"Sunday," even "Saan-Dee."
But it is pronounced "San-Day." (You can listen to the pronunciation from a British woman here, in an interview here, or hear her "approved" pronunciation during a radio interview here.)
Seems simple enough, but now you know. Sandé = San-Day.
Now on to her latest song: 'Next To Me.' It's a kind of soul pop tune with well-written lyrics, a catchy beat, and it makes me wish I lacked to correct chromosomes to sing along to it in my car. (I've tried, I just can't pull it off. Ha ha.)
Emeli Sandé grew up in England and Scotland she has already had three number-one singles in the UK. ("Read All About It," "Next to Me," and "Beneath Your Beautiful.") Her album, 'Our Version of Events' was the best selling album in the UK for 2012. That means she beat out Adele, Ed Sheeran, Lana Del Rey, OneDirection and Mumford & Sons...I'd say that's a pretty big deal. And now she's starting to make her mark here in the United States.
What do you think of it?
LYRICS: "Next To Me" by Emeli Sandé
You won't find him drinking at the tables
Rolling dice and staying out til 3
You won't ever find him being unfaithful
You will find him, you'll find him next to me
You won't find him trying to chase the devilFor money, fame, for power, out of greed
You won't ever find him where the rest go
You will find him, you'll find him next to me
Next to me, ooo-oh
Next to me, ooo-oh
Oh next to me, ooo-oh you will find him, you'll find him next to me
When the money's spent and all my friends have vanished
And I can't seem to find no help or love for free
I know there's no need for me to panic
‘Cause I'll find him, I'll find him next to me
When the skies are grey and all the doors are closingAnd the rising pressure makes it hard to breathe
Well, all I need's a hand to stop the tears from falling
I will find him, I'll find him next to me
Next to me, ooo-oh
Next to me, ooo-oh
Oh next to me, ooo-oh you will find him, you'll find him next to me
When the end has come and buildings falling down fastWhen we spoilt the land and dried up all the sea
When everyone has lost their heads around us
You will find him, you'll find him next to me
Next to me, ooo-oh
Next to me, ooo-oh
Oh next to me, ooo-oh you will find him, you'll find him next to me
