This week, Disney announced plans to re-release its Oscar-winning animated feature, 'The Lion King,' in 3-D this fall.

According to reports, the 3-D version will hit theaters on September 16, 2011, about 17 years after its original theatrical release, in 1994.

Disney said that 'The Lion King' will only play in theaters for two weeks, before it's released on Blu-ray 3-D on Oct 4.

Just great, another chance for 'Hakuna Matata' to get stuck in my head for six months. I wonder how much of a difference 3-D will make for the movie. If Disney is going to the hassle of putting it back in theatres, I'm sure they expect it to be pretty epic.
