Last weekend I hit my first drive-in movie of the year in Fort Collins. They just upgraded to digital projectors and I was blown away by how much better the picture looked on screen that it had in years past. But one thing made me sad...there was no dancing hot dog or any of the retro intermission animations that I had come to associate with a trip to the drive-in.

But today the drive-on announced that the 'Dancing Hot Dog' will be back on screen starting Friday night!

Maybe I'm just a little weird, but for some reason the hot dog doing tricks, the tap-dancing sodas, the marching ice cream treats and all of those vintage "go to the snack bar" clips always made my night at the drive-in. (Maybe it's just because I giggle like a little boy who heard a dirty word every time I see the bun make the hot dog do tricks...)

I was bummed that they were gone, but I assumed that they were all on old film reels that became obsolete with the new projectors. However, this was just shared by the Holiday Twin Drive-In on Facebook:

The "Dancing Hotdog" just arrived! He will be on screen tomorrow night!

Hooray and huzzah!

It's the little things in life you learn to appreciate, and that dancing hot dog is one thing I'll always treasure.

Cheers to the Holiday Twin Drive-In for getting it back. :)
