Attempting to rob a police station is a terrible idea. Trying to rob it and then saying it was all a practical joke is not the brightest idea either.

An 18-year-old walked into the Wilmer Police Department in Texas last week with a towel over his hands and demanded that an officer give him money. He then tried to back track and say the whole thing was just a joke.

According to CBS DFW, the officer who the kid threatened said,

He said he’d like to check on a warrant, but it was pretty obvious it was a situation … he gave a different name and after a few moments of maybe playing it off he said ‘you do know I have a gun’. At that point he seemed to be very serious.

Who walks in to a police station and uses the phrase, “You know I have a Gun, Right?” Considering just about everyone in that building probably has one strapped to their arm.

His story?

I didn’t say nothing like that, I swear to God I didn’t say nothing like that; that’s why they didn’t find no guns on me…Man I play like that all the time, I didn’t think she would take it seriously.

Police stations, airports, and elementary schools. Three places where jokes about guns don’t fly.

That's an expensive lesson he's going to learn.
