Valentine's Day

I know Valentine's Day is over, but love should be celebrated everyday of the year. This video is a reminder to that. They take elderly couples and interview them about their love for each other and it is awesome. It is a great reminder that there is love and good in the world.

February 14th is upon us, so it's time to whip out all the lovey dovey cliches, y'all. We're talking about the stuff we expect on V-Day-- the chocolates, roses and, of course, the proposal stories. It's a pretty cute idea to propose to your significant other on the most romantic day of the year, but with that comes a big, big risk-- that other person might say no. Yikes.

Now, I am not a big fan of Valentine's Day for lots of reasons. The main one being you shouldn't show your affection on just one day, it should be an everyday type of thing. That and doing something elaborate to show your love should be spontaneous and not planned for one day.  Before I understood any of that, I hated it for another reason. It all started in 5th Grade.

For 46 years, Sue Johnston had a pretty good idea what she'd be getting on Valentine's Day. Each February 14 her husband John would give her a bouquet of flowers with a note that read "My love for you grows." Sadly, John passed away two years ago in April. 10 months later, Johnston received Valentine's Day flowers from somebody named John. At first she thought it was a cruel joke.

Anyone who argues that video games are full of senseless violence and lack genuine emotion simply hasn't spent enough time with a controller in their hands. In fact, many games are driven by heartfelt love stories at their core. Some are cute and Disney-esque, while others are doomed from the start in the tradition of Greek tragedy.
