Galena Fire

It was reported a couple weeks ago that the 1300-plus-acre Galena Fire, West of Fort Collins, was caused by an accidental spark from an electric fence. Turns out, there's a little more to the story...

Luckily, the Galena Fire is now fully contained, and the cause of the blaze has been discovered.

The Galena Fire west of Fort Collins is now 1,348 acres and is now considered to be 85% contained. All pre-evacuation notices have been cancelled, but residents are advised to remain alert for changing conditions.

The Galena fire west of Horsetooth Reservoir is believed to be 75% contained. The Fire is now estimated at 1348 acres. There has been minimal growth in the fire. The higher estimate is based on better mapping.

The Galena Fire west of Horsetooth Reservoir is 45% contained and is still estimated at 750 to 1,000 acres.

Although conditions are better today for firefighters to do their job, the Galena fire has now burned up to roughly 1000 acres near the Horsetooth reservoir in Fort Collins, CO.
