Earlier today a man was shot at a Wal-Mart in Greeley. The shooter fled to a nearby apartment complex around the Highway 34 bypass and 11th Avenue, and barricaded himself inside.

He was arrested around 2:15 this afternoon after a 30-minute standoff and a scuffle with police.

According to the Greeley Tribune the shooting was gang-related and happened around 1pm. A man was shot in the side and the head near the entrance of the Wal-Mart store and the suspect fled the scene.

Once barricaded inside the apartment, it took half an hour of negotiating to get the suspect to come out. He was then shot with pepper balls and apprehended after a struggle with police.

The Tribune reports that this is the fourth shooting since Father’s Day Greeley.

  • An officer-involved shooting happened on Friday, when a gang member held a woman at gunpoint before police shot and killed him.
  • Gang members shot at a car early Sunday night in which a 20-year old passenger died after being struck in the eye.
  • And on Father’s Day weekend, rival gangs shot at each other at an apartment complex just north Greeley.
