A man who shoots himself in the hand might fall into the ‘not-so-bright’ category. But if he asks police to come to his house to show him how to properly unload his gun he earns a few “smart points” back. Hey, at least he’s trying to learn, right?

But, he loses all of those “smart points” and more because at his house where he invited police inside, he was growing 46 marijuana plants.

This story comes to us from Florida and according to News-Journal Online,  our guys showed up at a hospital to treat his self-inflicted hand wound. The man then told police that he wasn’t sure how to operate the handgun properly and asked if they would come to his home to show him how to safely unload it.

When police came inside they smelled marijuana, and lots of it.

On the second floor, they discovered a room with a foil blanket on the floor with marijuana on it. In a closet, marijuana trees were hanging, drying out, police said.

In another room, police found a tent with marijuana plants in it. The tent was rigged up with an irrigation system, ultraviolet lights and other equipment needed to make an indoor grow house operational.

In total, Police discovered 46 marijuana plants. And our guy then tried to deny any knowledge of the plants saying his wife was the only person that used the second floor of their house.

That’s not the best cover story he could have come up with.
