We received reports about a train being stopped for hours in Loveland this afternoon and the Loveland Reporter Herald is reporting that a female pedestrian was hit by a train.

The accident happened around 2 o’clock this afternoon near 3500 Butternut Drive (Near Highway 287).

From the Reporter Herald:

A 14-year old female was struck by a freight train at around 2 p.m. today in the area of 3500 Butternut Drive, according to Sergeant Jameson Gartner with the Loveland Police Department. The train, owned by Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway, was heading south and stopped between 29th Street and 37th Street, blocking traffic at 37th Street. The girl was transported by ambulance to McKee Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Loveland police and investigators with the railway company responded to the incident. No drugs and alcohol were suspected. The train was moved by 4:30 p.m.

The good news is that authorities do not believe her wounds are fatal.
