Sunday morning before the Minnesota Vikings were to host the New York Giants a massive snowfall led to the collapse of the massive 9 1/2 acre Teflon roof.

More than 17 inches of snow fell on the Minneapolis area causing the roof to collapse, thousands of traffic accidents, and the Minneapolis airport to shut down for the first time in 19 years.

According to the NFL, the game will be played tonight at Detroit's Ford Field and Vikings officials hope to have the roof repaired before next week's game against the Chicago Bears.

Coincidentally. the Vikings are in the middle of arguments trying to push voters and city officials for a new stadium.  Their lease on the Metrodome ends after the 2011 season.
