I'm not sure how certain songs get popular, but  "Gangnam Style" by PSY somehow has over 145-million views on YouTube and countless parodies made with it. One of these parodies was created by a group of lifeguards in California and 14 people lost their jobs for it!

Watch it below and find out why.

That seems harmless enough, right? Well, according to Fox 31, 13 lifeguards and their pool manager were all fired after their superiors caught wind of the video.

The city says the filming of the video was a clear unauthorized use of resources and property. The lifeguards say they will petition for their jobs back at the next El Monte City Council meeting.

I'm not sure how something like this led to 14 people being fired. They weren't breaking any laws, they weren't filming anything illegal of explicit, they weren't vandalizing anything, and it just looks like they were just having a good time. And they happened to be doing it where they worked.

Now, maybe there are more details that I don't know about that would merit them all losing their jobs, like if they were all on the clock while they made the video. But come on! There weren't even other people in the pool!

I hope they get their jobs back, and I hope they make more videos.

Now if you're still wondering what the heck "Gangnam Style" is, it's a song by a Korean Rapper named PSY and the song and video for it are absolutely ridiculous. Yet, somehow, it is becoming a worldwide phenomenon.

It's catchy, I'll give it that.
