We’ve all felt the heat lately. This has been the hottest and driest summer in recent memory.

And these soaring temperatures may mean that Lake Loveland could all but dry up in the next month. And if you want to hit up the swim beach there, it could close as early as this Sunday.

According to the Loveland Reporter-Herald, farmers are taking their shares of the reservoir’s water to irrigate crops that are in dire need of water. Loveland Parks & Recreations managers monitor the lake and say they could close the North Lake swimming beach as early as this Sunday.

"It becomes unsafe at that point. The mud and the debris. That's when we pull all the buoys and ropes and post 'no swimming' signs. We'll try to get through the weekend, buy maybe not."

If they do close the swim beach this weekend, it would be the earliest closing in history for the lake.

But it gets worse; the lake could be completely empty by August 20th.

I know we saw a little bit of rain today, but I’m shaking my fist your way Mother Nature!
