It's the day you get to celebrate over a free short stack, yay! I remember when I went to CSU, my friends and I always went to the IHOP across from campus because, FREE MEAL. But, there are some important things to remember here.

Like, seemingly a no-brainer: TIP THE WAIT STAFF.

Apparently not tipping has become a thing. People go in and get their free short stack (available to from 7 a.m.- 7p.m. at an IHOP near you), and then dash without remembering that they still need to leave a gratuity for their waiter or waitress. I mean, IHOP can be a zoo on National Pancake Day, so they've probably earned over 20 percent -- and you did just get a free meal.

Number two! This one came up on my Facebook feed from a post a friend of mine shared, and I think it's something people just don't realize. Please, remember that you may be getting a free short stack, but since National Pancake Day began over a decade ago, it has been a charity event.

The money you saved on hot cakes can be donated to a charity like Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, Shriners Hospitals for Children and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

THREE  -- OK, there was no three, I just think that berry syrup stuff is gross and ruins pancakes so I'm just going to leave that there.

Take my tips -- and leave a tip. ;)

*The more you know!* Now get out there and enjoy your pancakes.
