Police in Immokalee, Florida, say a man attempted to sell stolen jewelry to a jewelry store manager, but there was one big problem. The home he had just burglarized the trinkets from happened to belong to the woman working at said jewelry store. Oops.

According to UPI our guy walked in to a place called Marilyn’s Boutique on Monday and approached the store manager about selling several pieces of jewelry he had. When he  pulled out the goods to show to her  she recognized the pieces as her own. She said nothing to him about it, but went to the back of the store, called police and called her husband. She then returned to the ‘customer’ and stalled for police.

The fuzz showed up about the same time as her husband and took the alleged burglar into custody. The whole crew then took a trip to the couple’s home where they found that, sure enough, the back door had been jimmied open, the home ransacked, and her jewelry missing.

Boy-genius was arrested and now faces charges of grand theft, dealing in stolen property and defrauding a pawnbroker.

Was it just dumb luck, or was the karma really sticking it to this guy?
