Dumb Criminal of the Day: Real Life ‘Hamburglar’ [VIDEO]
Today's dumb criminal of the day is a real-life 'Hamburglar' from Iowa. A 21-year-old college student is in some trouble after breaking into a McDonald’s restaurant for a late night snack. Our guy didn't steal any money though, he was just hungry.
Whitley Teslow allegedly smashed the glass of a closed McDonald’s drive-thru window around 2AM last week. He then went inside and cooked a hamburger and fries and the whole caper was caught on surveillance video (Check it out below).
He now faces charges of third-degree burglary, fourth-degree criminal mischief, fifth-degree theft, and could face five years in prison.
That’s an awful lot to pay for a case of late night munchies.
According to KSEE 24 News Tesow apologized and told NBC,
It's not who I am to do something like that. I've never been in trouble with the law before. It's pretty hard for me to be able to swallow. I just hope they understand that it was a kid making a dumb mistake.
I'm not sure you can use the plea of 'I was just a dumb kid' when you're 21 and it happened last week.
