Dumb Criminal of the Day: Rich Guy Adopts Girlfriend to Save Cash

A rich guy in n Palm Beach, Florida is making some creepy, crooked headlines. The 48-year old (We’ll call him “Uncle Moneybags” has legally adopted his 42-year-old girlfriend as his daughter.

Why? It’s his strategy is to protect his immense wealth as he fights a wrongful death lawsuit filed against him by the parents of a boy he allegedly killed after running a stop sign while drunk driving.

Uncle Moneybags says that he adopted his girlfriend in order to guarantee that his children’s futures are full of cash. But, conveniently, now all that money in the trust with his new ‘daughter’ is completely untouchable to the parents of the slain child, even if they win their civil suit against him.

Aside from the civil suit from the parents, Moneybags is facing criminal charges of vehicular homicide, DUI manslaughter, and leaving the scene of a crime. He pleaded not guilty to all those charges.

I’m sure there is a special place in the fiery pits of you-know-where for guys like this. And when is adopting your girlfriend ever a good idea?
