Today’s Dumb Criminal comes you us from Littleton, where police arrested a man accused of burglary while posing as a snow shoveler.

Note to would-be-criminals: It doesn’t take a CSI team to follow your footprints in the snow.

According to 7News, a woman called police last week to report a burglary that had happened while she left to run an errand and when she came home she noticed her laptop and a few other things were missing. She called police and did a little investigating of her own and found some footprints in the snow near her front door. She learned from a neighbor that someone had been going door to door offering to shovel driveways.

Turns out the shovel-for hire went inside and scooped up some valuables after no one answered the door.

When police arrived they got a description of the suspect from neighbors, but to find the guy all they had to do was follow his footprints in the snow.

Our thief had wandered all through the surrounding neighborhood. Police followed his trail and caught up with him a short time later, still carrying the stolen goods and his snow shovel.

Footprints in the snow? I’m pretty sure this wass a criminal that Dora the Explorer could have caught.
