We’ve heard plenty of stories of deadbeat drug dealers “watering-down” their products. (Mixing powdered sugar in with cocaine, mixing oregano with marijuana, etc.) Well, one 20-year old from Pennsylvania had the bright idea to try and sell store-bought mushrooms as psychedelic ‘shrooms.

Selling drugs is dumb. Selling fake drugs? Even dumber. Selling said fake drugs on Facebook? I’m not sure it can get any dumber.

Einstein here bought a sack of shiitake and porcini mushrooms from a grocery store and cut them up so they would look like the illicit variety.  He then tried to sell them to another man for $250 claiming they were illegal psychedelic mushrooms.

He had arranged to meet the man through Facebook, and the duo tried to make their transaction outside of a grocery store. Employees there called police to report suspicious activity in their parking lot. Police showed up, broke up the drug sale, and put our guy in jail.

One of the tell-tale signs of his crime: he still had the grocery store receipt for the non-hallucinogenic mushrooms lying on the seat of his car. And they used his Facebook account to see evidence of his planning of the actual drug sale.

Selling fake drugs on Facebook is probably an easy way to get yourself behind bars.
