Angelina Jolie to Star As Disney’s Evil Sorceress ‘Maleficent’

The Disney Princesses have always gotten a lot of love, but now the Disney character who called herself “The Mistress of All Evil” is getting her own live-action movie.

Due out in 2014, ‘Malificent’ will hit theatres with Angelina Jolie playing the title role.

Malificent made her mark in the 1959 classic ‘Sleeping Beauty’ and is probably one of the most recognized villains in all the Disney movies. (She was even one of the main antagonists in the ‘Kingdom Hearts’ video game series.)

This tale will be told from the perspective of Sleeping Beauty’s evil nemesis. (If you need some back story, Maleficent is the one who curses the baby Princess Aurora after she’s not invited to her christening. The curse puts Aurora into a sleep that she cannot wake from.)

Will she be a protagonist? Will we feel sorry for her? Will we cheer for her? Apparently we have to wait and find out. But you can read an interview with Angelina Jolie from EW where she drops a few hints about the movie here.
