Is the world ready for drone aircraft to deliver goods to our doors? Amazon head-honcho Jeff Bezos thinks so, and he says it could be a reality in five years.

Apparently, Amazon is working on new technology in which drones would deliver your order in 30 minutes or less as part of an initiative called Amazon Prime Air. There are plenty of legal and logistical hoops to jump through, but they say it could be a reality in about five years time.

When I first saw this video I thought it was joke, but turns out this is actually a real thing.

It looks like science fiction, but it's real. From a technology point of view, we'll be ready to enter commercial operations as soon as the necessary regulations are in place. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is actively working on rules for unmanned aerial vehicles.

I wonder if pizza places will follow suit and deliver pies via drone vehicles too. (Oh wait, one of them already has!)

Something tells me a lot of the population isn't quite ready to accept drones buzzing all over their towns, we'll have to wait and see how this pans out.

I, for one, think it's kind of a neat idea and would sure save the UPS and FedEX drivers a lot of trips to my front porch.

Skynet is online...

What do you think, will these delivery drones change the way we get packages?
